The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred at about8:28(correction/typo)18:28 or 6:38pm on October 21, 2025.
The initial investigation revealed that Sheree L. Panek, age 68, of Pavilion, NY, was operating a 2019 Honda CRV northbound on Route 19 and struck a deer that had entered the roadway from the east shoulder. The deer became airborne and went through the windshield of an oncoming southbound 2025 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Michael L. Vaccaro, age 80, of Rochester, NY. Vaccaro’s Silverado then exited the west shoulder and came to rest in a ditch and brush.
Vaccaro suffered fatal injuries when the deer came through the windshield and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The occupants of the Honda were uninjured in crash.
Assistance at the scene was provided by the pavilion and LeRoy Fire Departments, Mercy EMS, Genesee
County Coroner’s Office, and LeRoy Ambulance Service.
