The YWCA of Genesee County held a Breakfast Panel at Main Street 56 Theater on Monday morning, to get the word out about systems of support and stories of survival as part of Domestic Violence Awareness month.
Panelist included City of Batavia Police Chief Shawn Heubusch, Jacquelyn Wheeler, Mental Health Counselor/YWCA, Eve Graham/YWCA Director of Domestic Violence, Joseph Robinson/First Assistant DA/Genesee County, and a Survivor Advocate, who shared her lived experience and perspective.
A video that was created earlier this year by a local photographer and videographer was also viewed. The video told the story of three survivors that captured the unseen realities of abuse, (emotional, financial, psychological) and the strength it takes to break free.
The free event also included a breakfast provided by the Alabama Hotel.
