Bill and Joy Hume opened their new location on October 1st at 4152 West Main Street, they say they are enjoying their new spot in the plaza, which is three times the size of the old location on Ellicott and Otis Streets.
They have been in the toy and comics business for about 15 years.

In their new location, they have added a media room and are now dealing in trading cards like Pokémon. They also have pop up sales on Whatnot, a live shopping marketplace. “We sell fun and happiness, says owner Bill Hume. We have toys, action figures, vintage stuff, current stuff, lots of current releases, anime, Marvel, superheroes, tons of Star Wars, sci fi. We’re all fans ourselves. We have an atmosphere of fandom, and we’re all like-minded collectors. So, people can come in here talk about comic books they collect with us or with other fellow shoppers. It’s just kind of like a nice nerd community headquarters, I guess, Phantom headquarters.”

Today, they had many visitors, from Darth Vader, the Grinch, Wolverine and Santa. The store has something for everyone.

“We have a lot of people coming in for our media section, which obviously the toys, is huge, and, you know, vintage new but the media comics, we’re putting out new comics all the time. They’re not the new ones, but they are the old releases that we, you know, buying collections and sell. We also have albums. Record albums are huge right now, and media graphic novels, so we’re kind of vast,” says owner Joy Hume.

“We’re expanding into a lot more areas too, carrying more trading cards and stuff and Pokémon cards, and getting more anime figures, stuff, you know, little outside of our comfort zone that we don’t necessarily know a lot about, but other people are into it, and there’s a demand for it. So, we’re learning and expanding, and we have the room to do it now, we just outgrew the former locations,” says Bill.
