Curtis Foss of Medina, a seven-time Genesee Region USBC Masters Tournament champion, captured his second GRUSBC Scratch Memorial Tournament crown on Sunday afternoon at Oak Orchard Bowl in Albion.
The 38-year-old right-hander, who operates the pro shop at Oak Orchard Bowl, defeated top-seeded Shawn Better of Geneseo, 236-179, in the stepladder finals’ title match to pocket the $700 first prize.
The two-day tournament drew 57 entries, with 13 bowlers cashing.
Foss, the No. 2 seed, edged Alex Allis of Medina, 232-220, to earn the right to face Better, who rolled a 300 game and 834 series (first three games) in the semifinal round.

Prior to that, Allis topped Scott Shields of Batavia, 255-217, after defeating Mark Brown of Attica, 257-193.
Better, who won the tournament in 2014, earned $350 for placing second, while Allis won $250, Shields $225 and Brown $200.
Also cashing (for $120 each) by virtue of reaching the four-game semifinals were Rob Gustke of Rochester, Reid Cole of Albion, Brian Weber of Perry, Mike Pettinella of Batavia, John Beadle of Albion, Dana Nowack of Livonia, Jeremy Yasses of Oakfield and Scott Allis of Medina.
Gustke, who recorded 1,053 for his four games during the Sunday 10 a.m. qualifying squad, earned an extra $25 for being the high qualifier.
