RTS Launches RTS Link Microtransit Pilot Program in Batavia

Rochester, NY: Regional Transit Service (RTS) launched the RTS Link Microtransit pilot program in Batavia this week. Provided by RTS Genesee, RTS Link is a ride-share service that will operate on weeknights from 6:00-9:30 p.m. and allow customers to schedule customized trips on ADA-accessible vehicles within the Batavia service area. A map of this service area is available on the RTS website at https://www.myrts.com/Genesee/Enjoy-the-Ride-Guide/RTS-Link.

“We are excited to introduce our RTS Link Microtransit pilot program to the City of Batavia,” said RTS CEO Miguel Velázquez. “Batavia residents have been vocal in their desire for service to be available in the evening and RTS Link will help meet that need. I thank the RTS team for their hard work to get this service up and running and I thank our customers and partners in Genesee County for their continued support.”

The RTS Link pilot program previously launched in LeRoy did not work as intended and has been moved to Batavia due to extremely low ridership. Customers in LeRoy will continue to have access to our regular route deviation service and they can use Route 214 for service between Batavia and LeRoy. With RTS Link now operational in Batavia, RTS Genesee will closely monitor the effectiveness of the program before determining whether to extend the pilot, end the pilot, or make RTS Link in Batavia a regular, on-going service.

RTS Link trips can only be scheduled for the same day by calling RTS Genesee at (585) 343-3079 or by using the Pingo app. When a customer requests a trip, RTS Link will find the closest time available for service. If the trip is accepted, RTS Link will provide curb-to-curb service. The fare for RTS Link in Batavia is $5 per ride.

How to Download the Pingo Mobile App

RTS customers in Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties can use the Pingo mobile app to schedule their RTS Link ride, plan and track their trips, and coming soon, they will be able to use the Pingo app to pay their fare. Customers download the “Ride Pingo” app from the App Store or Google Play. RTS also has a Pingo app user guide available on its website at https://www.myrts.com/Pingo.
