On Friday, March 20th, seven talented students from Elba Central School in grades 4-6 earned top honors in this year’s Page Turner’s competition. The team showcased their reading knowledge and teamwork skills in an exciting challenge against teams from Pembroke, Oakfield-Alabama and Batavia.
The Page Turner’s competition brings together student teams from across the region to test their understanding of selected books. During the event, teams are quizzed on detailed questions related to each book, requiring not only careful reading but also strong recall, collaboration, and quick thinking.
Led by Gretchen Pietrzykowski and Jenna Bird, the Elba team rose above tough competition and secured the title of Northwest Division Champions, which has not happened since 2011. With their division win, the team now advances to Regional Finals that will take place on Wednesday, April 15th at 5:30 at Pavilion High School. The next round will bring together the best teams from across the region.
