Press release
Beginning on May 1st, 2026, a fee will be implemented for the disposal of yard waste generated through commercial landscaping activities. This change is necessary to offset rising operational, transportation, and processing costs associated with the handling and removing of yard waste materials. Businesses will be required to register with the City of Batavia before any commercial yard waste disposal is accepted.
Key Details:
- Residential yard waste generated and transported by homeowners will continue to be free.
- The new fee structure will apply to all commercial entities, including landscapers, tree service companies, and other contractors disposing of yard waste.
- Charges will be assessed based on the type/size of truck transporting yard waste, as follows:
- Grapple Trucks: $350
- Dump Trucks: $200
- Dump Trailers: $150
- Pick-up Trucks: $100
- All deliveries must continue to comply with current guidelines regarding acceptable materials.
- Acceptable materials: brush, grass, grindings, leaves, wood chips, bulk wood less than 24” diameter
- Unacceptable materials: garbage, plastic, soil, rocks, bulk wood greater than 24” diameter
We encourage all contractors to plan accordingly. If you have any questions or require further clarification, please contact Scott Allen at 585-345-6400 option 1.
