Chief Loftus is a 1997 graduate of Le Roy High School. Following high school, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, graduating Cum Laude, from Brockport State College. Chief Loftus began his career with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office on January 25, 2014, when he was hired as a Deputy Sheriff.

In 2018, Chief Loftus was promoted to Investigator. Over the years, his exemplary service has been recognized with three departmental commendations. In his new role as Chief Deputy of CID, he will oversee all investigative operations, guide departmental strategy on criminal cases, and continue fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and service.

“On behalf of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, I want to congratulate Chief Loftus on this milestone promotion,” stated Sheriff Graff. “This role demands sharp judgment, unwavering integrity, and the ability to lead in the most complex situations. Chief Loftus has demonstrated these qualities, and I am confident that he will continue to strengthen our Criminal Investigation Division and serve our community with distinction.”
