On Thursday, April 23, 2026, Jason Hoffman, a 56-year-old former resident of Gainesville, NY, was sentenced by the Honorable Donald G. O’Geen to five years in prison with twenty years post release supervision.

This sentence was the result of Hoffman’s January 29, 2026 guilty plea to the charge of criminal sexual act first degree, a Class “B” violent felony.

In January, Hoffman admitted that between November – December of 2022 in the County of Wyoming, he engaged in oral sexual conduct with another person by use of forcible compulsion. The victim in this matter was 16 years old at the time the crime was committed.

There was no sentence promise/agreement in this case and Hoffman faced a sentence between five years and twenty-five years in New York State Prison and between five years and 2twenty years of post-release supervision.

At sentencing, the People asked for the defendant to be sentenced to twenty years in prison and twenty years post release supervision, stating that the defendant was “a predator”. In addition, Hoffman will have to register as a sex offender once released from the Department of Corrections.

Hoffman was arrested by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.

“We want to thank the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for their diligent work in investigating this case. I would commend the victim on their bravery for coming forward about this horrendous abuse,” said District Attorney Vincent Hemming.

The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Chelsie Hamilton. Justin Ginter, Esq. represented the Defendant.
