Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello’s 2nd Annual Memorial Ride started with the singing of the National Anthem, by Doug Allen who performed the Star-Spangled Banner at Buffalo Sabre games from the 1990’s to 2021. Allen has also had several guest appearances this past hockey season.
Pat New a Correctional Officer from Oswego County played Taps after the anthem.
Opening Ceremony at the Alexander Fire Department Recreation Hall. Sheriff Graff also presented the Sanfratello family with a plaque that was in the National Museum in Washington DC.
Sgt. Sanfratello’s family and members of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department pose with Doug Allen before the 62-mile ride through Genesee County. Planning Committee member Nathan Coffee reached out to Allen as Coffee and Sgt. Sanfratello, and his family are all big Sabre fans.
About 100 bikes participated in this year’s run along with several other vehicles, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department and Corfu Police Department. Funds raised will go towards Sgt. Sanfratello’s College fund for students pursuing a career in law enforcement and the yearly Shop with a Cop event. Toys collected will be donated the Child Advocacy Center in Batavia.

Planning Committee Members Nathan Coffee, Amanda Auriemma, Rachel Diehl and Sam Coffee planned this year’s event.
“The community really, really showed out as evidence by the number of baskets, we have, a lot of high-end baskets,” says Amanda Auriemma, Planning Committee member. There was a total of 185 baskets. Ride participants donated a dollar amount or a toy to ride today.
