On September 6th, 2026, at about 2:32p.m. the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported go-kart rollover into a pond involving two juveniles on Fargo Road in the Town of Darien.
According to investigators, the 11-year-old male operator was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Hospital, and upon arrival he was pronounced deceased. An 8-year-old female was treated by medical personnel and released at the scene
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident. No further information is available at this time.

Update: According to Chief Deputy Hale with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, an 11-year-old boy was driving a go kart and rolled it into a pond and was trapped. Family and firefighters were able to free him.
Deputies arrived on scene and began CPR. The patient, in serious condition, was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Hospital. A passenger involved was not injured.
