Press release
Undersheriff Colin P. B. Reagan announced today the release of a new smartphone app designed to connect residents and visitors with important public safety information and updates.
The New York Sheriff Connect smartphone app now offers a customized Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office app menu, giving residents convenient mobile access to local public safety resources.
Notably, this includes in-app access to VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday), which empowers victims, survivors and interested residents to seamlessly and confidentially register for real-time alerts regarding an offender’s custody status and the New York State Sheriffs’ Institute’s Order of Protection notification service, which provides domestic violence victims the ability to register for notifications when an Order is served, providing the information needed to take appropriate precautions for
themselves and loved ones.
The app was developed by TheSheriffApp.com, a brand of OCV, LLC., which specializes in mobile app development for sheriffs’ offices and public safety organizations across the nation. It offers easy, quick access to news, alerts, and information for community safety. Grant funding for the mobile app was secured by the New York State Sheriffs’ Institute from the NYS Office of Victim Services.
“More than 90 percent of people in the United States own and use smartphones as their primary means of communication,” OCV President Kevin Cummings said. “Mobile apps offer agencies a better way to alert, inform and prepare the public. Apps allow public safety agencies the ability to reach and serve their citizens where they are: on their smartphones.”
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office app is now available for free download. Residents can search for
the New York Sheriff Connect app in the App Store or Google Play, and select “Wyoming County” to
access the menu.
