GENESEE COUNTY/Darien/Rochester man seriously injured in rollover accident


A Rochester man is in serious condition after suffering serious physical injuries in one vehicle rollover on Simonds road in Darien on Friday night.

The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting the accident at 10:24 p.m.

A 2005 Ford Escape, was traveling east on Sumner road when it failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and then traveled off the east shoulder of Simonds road. The vehicle then rotated counterclockwise traveling off the west shoulder of the road, down an earth embankment, which then caused it to rollover and come to rest on its wheels facing south.

The driver, Timothy W. Rohl, 52, of Cedarwood Terrace, Rochester, was transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight with serious injuries. A passenger, Christine L. Ost, 45, suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Strong Hospital.

Unsafe speed is a contributing factor in the crash and it is sill under investigation and charges are pending.

The accident is being investigated by Sgt. Jason Saile, Inv. James Diehl and Deputy Ryan DeLong. Assisting as the scene were members of the the Town of Darien Fire Dept., Mercy EMS and the NYS Police.
