WYOMING COUNTY/Historical barn a total loss after Monday fire

A historical cobblestone style barn built in the early 1800’s went up in flames late Monday morning.

According to the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services, the barn is a total loss. The barn was used for storage and contained multiple antiques and many lawn mowers, tractors, snowmobiles, motorcycles, ATV’s and automobiles. All were destroyed in the fire.

No one was injured in the blaze and the cause is under investigation.

11 fire companies responded to the scene, including Attica, Bennington, Cowlesville, North Java, Sheldon, Varysburg, Wyoming, Alexander, Town of Batavia, Attica Correctional and Wyoming Correctional. Also assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Management, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, NYS Police, Attica Police, and Attica DPW. Crews were on scene for about five and a half hours.
