LEROY POLICE REPORT/Pair charged after domestic incident on Lake street

Two people were arrested by the LeRoy Police Department after a reported domestic disturbance which occurred on July 1, 2017 at about 8:40 p.m. on Lake Street in the Village.

Bryan D. Bates Jr., 37,  of  West Main Street, Batavia, was arrested when it was  learned that Bates was violating a stay away order of protection issued by the City of Batavia Court by being in the accompaniment of the person he was ordered to stay away from.

Bates is charged with one count of criminal contempt 2nd, a class A-Misdemeanor. He was arraigned in the LeRoy Town Court and committed to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of bail.

Afterwards, the female half of the domestic incident, Andrea Gray, 39, of  Lake Street, in LeRoy, returned to the scene and allegedly falsely reported to neighbors that Bates had committed suicide causing the neighbor to call 9-1-1.

Gray was arrested on July 2, 2017 and charged with one count of falsely reporting an incident 3rd, a class A-Misdemeanor.

She arraigned in LeRoy Town Court and also committed to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of bail.
