The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a 4 door sedan, blue in color, that left the scene of a serious accident on Friday night in Bergen.
At 9:15 p.m., dispatchers received a call for a one vehicle rollover with serious physical injury and a driver trapped in a vehicle.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a pick up truck headed eastbound on Rt. 33, just west of Rt. 19, was struck by the 4 door sedan that was attempting to pass a mini van in the westbound lane.
The Ford F-150 pick up rolled over onto it’s side after being struck by the 4 door blue sedan that left the scene. The driver of the pick up, John F. Gurtler, of Swamp road , Bergen and his passenger were not injured.
The driver of the second vehicle, a Dodge mini van, Hailee N. Callicutt of Prune street, Batavia, swerved to avoid the collision and went off the south shoulder of the road and struck a power pole and some trees.
Callicutt had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to Strong Hospital by Mercy Flight with a leg injury. The other 5 occupants of the van were transported by ambulance to Strong Hospital.
An investigation revealed that the driver of the blue sedan passed the Dodge mini van unsafely and struck the eastbound F 150.
After the collision with the F 150, the blue sedan rotated counterclockwise and came to rest off the south shoulder of the road. The driver of the blue sedan then left the scene of the crash in an unknown direction.
The Sheriff’s Office says the sedan suffered front quarter panel damage and deputies are looking for the vehicle.
