GENESEE COUNTY/Football community comes together to honor Alexander teen who died in accident

The football community gathered at Alexander’s football field on Sunday afternoon to honor Alexander Trojan football player Brian West Jr., who died in an auto accident on July 10th on West Bethany road.

Football players and their families from as far away as Medina showed up for the first Memorial Brian West Jr. football game/fundraiser.

A large number of football players showed up for the event and two games had to be created.

“This is something I never imagined in my life,” says Miranda West, Brian’s older sister.

“I honestly didn’t know we knew this many people, this is beyond words for our family.”

Funds raised at the event were for the West family, who in turn gave the proceeds to the Alexander Football Club. Funds will be used to set up a Brian West Jr. Scholarship at the end of the next school year.

Miranda says football was Brain’s life and the pick up football games today were for those who have been having trouble with calling hours and the funeral.

“We thought this would be more upbeat and a fun way to keep Brian’s memory alive.”
