GENESEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Albion man leads deputies on a high speed chase with three children in the car

Clarence J. Carithers, 32, of W. Academy St., Albion, is charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer, 3 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, reckless driving, speed in excess of 55 mph(86 mph), failure to stop at a blinking red light, unsafe turn without signaling, speed in excess of 55 mph(111mph) and no/inadequate lights after a high speed chase in Alabama on September 1, 2017 at 12:44a.m.

Carithers allegedly passed a Genesee County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle at a speed in excess of 55 mph while on Lewiston road in the Town of Alabama. He then failed to stop a blinking red light at the intersection of Lewiston and Alleghany road and continued southbound on Alleghany road without any vehicle lights illuminated and at a high rate of speed.

Carithers then turned westbound on Bloomingdale road and failed to signal a turn and the then continued at a high rate of speed before finally coming to a stop at a gas mart located on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation.

Carithers was arraigned in the Town of Alabama Court and jailed without bail. he will re-appear in court on October 12, 2017 at 2:00p.m.

The incident is being investigated by Deputy Eric Meyer who is being assisted by Sgt. John Baiocco, Sgt. Jason Saile, Deputy Ryan Young and Deputy Howard Wilson.

 

 

Traci L. Abrams, 19, of Skye Rd., Alabama, was taken into custody by the Batavia Police Department on August 28, 2017 and turned over to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office on an arrest warrant issued out of the Town of Oakfield Court on a  possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle charge from May of 2017.

Abrams was arraigned in Oakfield Town Court and released under the supervision of Genesee Justice.

 

Devan D. Hazel, 23, of St. Mary’s St., NY, NY, was arrested on a bench warrant issued by the Town of Stafford Court on a criminal possession of marijuana 5th charge from April of 2017.

Hazel was arraigned in Stafford Town Court and jailed in lieu of $250 bail.

 

The Corfu Police Department arrested Melissa R. Reinard, 24, of Park Ridge Rd. Cheektowaga, NY, after a traffic stop at 90 East Main street in the Village of Corfu on August 25, 2017.

Reinard is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08%(.17%) or more and speeding in a zone(53/35mph zone). She was issued an appearance ticket and released to a third party.

Reinard will appear in Corfu Village Court on September 11, 2017 at 1:00p.m.
