BATAVIA POLICE REPORT/Man found slumped over the wheel wanted by NYS Corrections

Batavia Police received a call for a check the welfare at 563 East Main street on September 16, 2017 at 8:46a.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they found Robert E. Wright, 36, homeless, slumped over the steering wheel in a car.

During the investigation officers located an amount of a controlled substance in Wright’s possession that demonstrated an intent to distribute. Wright, who is also wanted by NYS Department of Corrections, led officers on a brief foot pursuit, but was taken into custody.

Wright is charged with resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, criminal possession of narcotic/drug with intent to sell, criminal possession of a narcotic/drug and unregistered motor vehicle.

Wright was held without bail and will appear in City Court later today at 1:30p.m.

 

Earl R. Benson Jr., 51, of S. Main St., Batavia, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08% or more and driving on the wrong side of median after a traffic stop on 206 East Main street on September 8, 2017.

Benson was issued appearance tickets and appeared in City Court n September 13, 2017.

 

 

Carl F. Ewell, 59, of Oak Orchard Rd., Elba, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08% or more and no/inadequate head lamps following a traffic stop on East Main street on September 9, 2017.

Ewell was released on uniform traffic tickets and will appear in City Court on September 27, 2107 at 9:00a.m.

 

Tonya M. Cragg, 38, of Church St., Tioga, PA, is charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia 2nd and criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th after she was found to have a controlled substance in her possession.

Cragg was issued appearance tickets and will appear in City Court later this afternoon.
