BATAVIA/Highland Park woman charged with attempted assault and unlawful imprisonment after leaving the scene of an accident

At approximately 2:05 p.m. on September 25, 2017, police were called to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Main street and Center street where the suspect vehicle fled the scene. 

Shortly after, police were informed of a second motor vehicle accident at a business on E Main street involving the suspect vehicle of the first motor vehicle accident.

The operator of the vehicle allegedly attempted to hit a male with the vehicle and while doing so, struck a picnic table in the parking lot of the business.  The vehicle again fled the scene.

The suspected operator of the vehicle, Lakara D. Johnson, 27, of Highland Park, fled on foot and was located on Colorado avenue. 

The suspect vehicle was located on Howard St. 

Further police investigation revealed that the incident was an ongoing domestic dispute where Johnson allegedly would not allow a male to exit the vehicle, and when he did, she allegedly attempted to strike him with the vehicle. 

Johnson is charged with attempted assault 1st degree, unlawful imprisonment 1st degree, and reckless endangerment 1st degree.

Johnson was arraigned in Batavia City Court before Judge Balbick and released under the supervision of Genesee Justice. She is scheduled to re-appear in Batavia City Court on September 26, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.
