WYOMING COUNTY/Riley sentenced to 10 years in prison

Press release

On Thursday, May 10, 2018, Lance Riley was sentenced to 10 years in state prison to be followed by 18 years of post-release supervision. He waived his right to appeal and he will be given a sex offender classification shortly before he is actual release.

Prior to the sentencing the Hon. Michael M. Mohun, issued a decision on the defendant’s motion to withdraw from his plea. Once the decision was handed down the case then moved to sentencing.

“This is now the second time that this defendant has harmed this victim and it will second time he is going to prison for it. Mr. Riley continuously and savagely raped this victim over a significant period of time by raping her and on occasion strangling her during those heinous acts. After the victim courageously came forward the defendant and members of her family set out to destroy her credibility. This young lady should be proud of the fact that she is standing strong against the defendant. It my hope that the Office of Mental Health look long and hard when determining whether they should civilly confine him after he has served this sentence as that is the only way to permanently protect society,” said Wyoming County District Attorney Donald O’Geen.

Defendant was represented at sentencing by Joseph Terranova. The People were represented by Wyoming County District Attorney Donald O’Geen.
