STATE POLICE REPORT/Medina man admits to having heroin during traffic stop in Shelby

On July 11, 2018 at 11:55 P.M., Troopers out of Albion arrested Jason A. Sickles, 37, of Medina, for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, unlawful possession of marijuana, moving from a lane unsafely, failure to keep right, aggravated unlicensed operation in the 2nd degree and operating without a license.

Troopers stopped Sickles on Maple Ridge Rd. in the Town of Shelby for moving from lane unsafely and failure to keep right.

Upon interviewing Sickles, Troopers detected the odor of marijuana. Troopers observed Sickles holding a plastic bag in his hand to which he admitted contained heroin. Sickles was placed under arrest and admitted to having an additional bag of heroin on his person. Troopers located a small amount of marihuana in Sickles’ vehicle. Further investigation revealed he was driving on a suspended license. Sickles was transported to State Police Albion and processed.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Shelby Court for July 2018.

 

 

On July 14, 2018, State Police/Warsaw troopers arrested Ryan P. Barnhardt, 22, of Warsaw, for DWI and several traffic infractions.

During a traffic stop for several VTL violations while operating a pickup truck on Route 19 in the Town of Pike, Troopers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Barnhardt’s vehicle. Troopers administered field sobriety tests which indicated Barnhardt was intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to State Police Warsaw where he was found to have a .13% BAC.

Barnhardt was issued appearance tickets returnable to Pike Town Court later this month.
