BATAVIA/Bishop Malone makes impromptu visit to Crossroads House

Bishop Malone made an impromptu visit to Crossroads House on Liberty street on Sunday afternoon to provide a blessing for the house and a resident there.

Malone made time in his schedule after meeting Frank Panepento at the 150th Anniversary of St. Joseph’s School on Summit street.

Panepento performed with the St. Joseph’s Alumni Brass Ensemble at the mass and approached the Bishop about the work that Crossroads house provides for the community.

Panepento’s wife Kathy founded the comfort care home 20 years ago. It is a place for those who have terminal illness or have been medically determined to be in the last three months of life.

Crossroads House services are provided to those residents of Genesee, Wyoming and surrounding counties free of charge.

The staff are all volunteers and have served about 470 residents over the years.
