Peggy Brusie is the mother of two children, Faith Marie Slack and Rae Lee Morgan, who lost their dad, Ray Morgan, to violence after he was murdered on July 24, 2018 on Liberty street. The family says they are looking for help from the community in finding the suspect.

“We’re asking for the attention of the public in regards to justice for Raymond Lee Morgan,” says Brusie.

“He was murdered four weeks ago and we are not any further ahead today than we were four weeks ago .We believe wrong doing by the Batavia Police Department.”

“My daughters were not contacted by an officer after the incident, they found out by calling the morgue,” says Brusie.

Ray Morgan, 47,  left behind seven grandkids and two daughters.

“They need answers to why someone could do something so heinous.”

According to Brusie, the night of the murder, Raymond’s sister was in the parking lot of Raymond’s apartment and was told by an officer she didn’t need to identify a body yet.  Brusie says she also called police to see if Raymond was okay.

In the overnight hours, gruesome photos of the crime scene surfaced on Facebook.  Ray Morgan’s sister, Natalie, also called the police about the posted photos of the bloody scene. Brusie says instinct then kicked in after viewing the photos and she called the morgue to identify the body almost 12 hours later.

After meeting at Raymond’s apartment at 111 Liberty street the next day to gather his belongings, Ray’s family was met by the landlord and maintenance man and his apartment was completely cleaned out by the landlord.

“There was no tape for crime scene and people were randomly walking in and out of his room.”

Across the street from the crime scene a parked a truck contained a few belongings from the apartment.  Ray Morgan’s sister, Gwen, looked into the back  of the pick up and found pictures of Raymond and his family. “My children got what was left after the apartment was ransacked, three bags of bloody clothes,” says Brusie.

“I believe because of Raymond’s criminal history the investigation has continued to go unsolved, we want justice and we won’t stop until we get it.”
