WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Varysburg man accused of DWI with a child in the vehicle, resisted arrest

Robert Scott Hill, 39,  of Varysburg, NY, was arrested following a traffic stop on Syler Road in the Town of Orangeville on August 31, 2018. Hill was stopped for reckless driving and failing to maintain his lane. Hill was intoxicated by alcohol and resisted arrest. His license was also revoked for a 2017 DWI conviction in the Town of Orangeville.

A 12 year old child was also riding in the vehicle with him. Hill refused to submit to a chemical test.

Hill is charged with DWI, aggravated DWI with child less than 16 in the vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree (3 Felonies), aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, reckless driving, operating without an interlock device, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest (6 Misdemeanors), refusal to take a breath test, failure to keep right, and moving from a lane Unsafely (3 Violations).

Hill was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court and committed to jail on $10,000 bail. Hill’s driver’s license was suspended again for refusing a chemical test pending a DMV Hearing. Hill is to appear in the Town of Orangeville Court at a later date.

 

 

An Attica man is facing welfare fraud charges after he allegedly failed to report all household income and filed false documents with the Department of Social Services.

Scott Simpson, 50, no address provided, is charged with welfare fraud 4th degree and offering a false instrument to file 1st degree, both Felonies, after an investigation by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Social Services.

It is alleged that Simpson failed to report that he was employed and what his wages were while on public assistance.

By failing to report the household income he received $2,073 in county taxpayer benefits to which he was not entitled to.

He was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court and bail was set at $1000 cash and $2000 bond. He will return to court on September 10, 2018.

 

 

James D. Barrows, 41, of Perry, was arrested following a traffic stop on Silver Springs Road in the Town of Warsaw on September 1, 2018.

Barrows is charged with DWAI/Alcohol and failure to keep right. Barrows was released to a third party after processing at the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office.

He is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Warsaw Court on September 24, 2018.
