Attica native Andrew Carter, 41, has moved back to his hometown after having a shop in Alexander for the past year and a half.
Carter and his partner Jarrod Grimmelt, have been working together at Revelation Ink Tattoo in small rented space in Alexander and have moved into a more spacious location in the Village of Attica at 27 Main street at Water street.

“Everybody is super stoked about me coming back home because this is where I grew up, its great,” says Carter.
“My grandma still lives in town here, so now I can go eat lunch with grandma, that is the main reason I came back.”
Carter is also hoping to be part of a resurgence in the Village of Attica. His new location used to be a bridal shop and was only empty for a week before he moved in and started remodeling the space.
“They are doing this thing called Attica Moving Forward to get other businesses up and running so Market street does not look like a ghost town, I hope somebody comes forward and does something with these buildings and it brings other businesses in.”
“I want to see this town alive again like when I was a kid.”
Carter is hoping that a planned business on Exchange street that is looking to bring in bands from all different genres will move forward soon.
“That will attract people to come in to town and then that will attract people to come in here and vice versa. I’m not going to be able to do it by just doing tattoos, but I would love to see this happen.”
Carter says with more space at his new location that just opened last week, he plans on adding some other forms of art that he and his partner have also been working on.
“We will be adding an airbrush room, I mess with everything, photography, sculptures, watercolor painting and some scribble art, Jarrod also paints and draws.”
Carter started his business after being a custom woodworker for 12 years. He says he has always had an interest in art and tattoos since he was a kid.
“I still love woodworking, I built doors for millionaires, just was sick and tired of getting up at 6:00a.m. and going to work, tired of making other people money, I want to make myself money and that is why I opened this place.”
He says he has no plans to move from his house in Pike where he and his wife, who is an RN in Rochester, are raising their kids ages 12 and 13. He says he does scheduling and a lot of design work from home so he can be home with his family.
“I’ve done way too much work on my house, put a lot of blood, sweat, tears and beers into it.
Carter says he is always booked about two weeks out and hopes to create more clientele for his partner also.
To make an appointment he says calling or messaging his cell phone is best. His number is 585-689-2255.
They are open Monday through Saturday from 10a.m.-8:00p.m.
