WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Perry man leads police on brief foot pursuit

On January 29, 2019 at 11:10p.m., multiple agencies were involved in the arrest of Ryan C. Westermeier, 43, of S. Main street, Perry, who was an outstanding Parole Absconder wanted on an arrest warrant. The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Warsaw Police Department, Wyoming County Drug Task Force, New York State Parole, and the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team.

Officers staged at an address on North Main Street in the Village of Warsaw after information developed that Westermeier was there.

When Westermeier exited the rear door of the complex, officers approached Westermeier and ordered him to stop. Westermeier immediately fled on foot, and following a brief foot pursuit and ground struggle Westermeier was apprehended. Westermeier was found to be in possession of a crack pipe containing a suspected controlled substance and also a hypodermic syringe.

He was immediately held on no bail on the parole warrant.

Westermeier, an eight time convicted felon, was additionally charged with resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration 2nd, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd, and possession of a hypodermic instrument.

Westermeier is scheduled to be arraigned in the Village of Warsaw Court on February 11, 2019 on additional charges.

On February 1, 2019, Paige L Schweigart, 25, of Hermitage Road in the Town of Wethersfield, was arrested for criminal contempt 2nd degree, following an investigation of a possible violation of a family court order of protection.

Schweigart was arraigned at Warsaw Town Court and committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $1,000.00 cash or $2,000.00 bond.

Schweigart is scheduled to answer to the charges at Wethersfield Town Court on February 5, 2019.

On January 31, 2019, Kory J. Lanni, 24, of Fillmore, was arrested following a traffic stop in the Village of Silver Springs on North Cummings avenue.

Lanni was stopped by Sheriff’s Deputies following a registration check of Lanni’s vehicle, showing an active bench warrant out of the Village of Perry.

Lanni was wanted for failing to appear in Village Court following a Perry Police aggravated unlicensed operation arrest.

Lanni was taken into custody and turned over to the Village of Perry Police Department for arraignment.
