STATE POLICE/Arcade pursuit ends with drug charges for pair

On May 7, 2019, State Police in Machias arrested Michael R. Daskavitz, 21, of Lockport, NY, for criminal possession of marijuana 3rd, unlawful fleeing a police officer 3rd, and reckless driving. Also charged is a passenger, Coreen R. Stewart, 19, of Friendship, NY, she is facing a criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th charge.

Troopers attempted to make a traffic stop of Daskavitz’s vehicle on Route 39 in the village of Arcade, at which time Daskavitz failed to comply and began to flee.

Daskavitz led Troopers on a short pursuit which ended in the parking lot of the Tractor Supply store. During the arrest, Troopers discovered approximately 10.5 ounces of marijuana and its derivatives, and a quantity of several prescription pills for which neither subject possessed a valid prescription. Daskavitz and Stewart were both arrested and transported to SP Machias for processing.

Both subjects were issued appearance tickets for Arcade Village Court where they are due to appear in later this month.
