GENESEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Byron man jailed after being accused of stealing a welder and a car

Peter J. Gravante Jr., 30, of Swamp Rd., Byron, is charged with burglary 2nd, a felony, grand larceny 4th, a felony and unauthorized use of a vehicle 3rd, a misdemeanor, after allegedly forcefully entering a residence on Townline road in Byron on May 20, 2019 at 5:48p.m.

Gravante Jr. allegedly stole a welder from the garage and took the keys to a vehicle in the driveway, then allegedly took the car from the residence.

The alleged stolen property was recovered in the City of Rochester.

Gravante Jr. was arraigned in the Town of Batavia Court on May 21, 2019 and jailed in lieu of $20,000 cash bail and $40,000 bond bail.

He will re-appear in the Town of Byron Court on June 3, 2019.

The incident was investigated by Deputy Henning, assisted by deputies Schildwaster, Ferrando, Forsyth and Investigators Parker, Carlson and Minuto.

Colby L. Ellis, 30, of W. Academy St., Albion, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief 4th, harassment 2nd and criminal mischief 3rd after a domestic incident on Old Creek road in Alexander on May 14, 2019.

Ellis allegedly damaged property that did not belong to him and is accused of endangering the welfare of a child and striking the victim in the face with his hand.

Ellis was arraigned in the town of Alexander Court and was released under the supervision of Genesee Justice.

He will re-appear in court on June 11, 2019 at 4:00p.m.

Robert O. Taft, 45, of State St., Batavia, is charged with criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd after he was found to possess drug paraphernalia during his arrest on May 15, 2019

Taft was taken into custody on a sealed indictment warrant out of Genesee County Court.

He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. Taft is currently being held on no bail through Genesee County Court on indictment charges.
