GENESEE COUNTY/Alexander woman pushing for stronger punishments for child predators

Danielle Nigro says she is tired of seeing child predators being slapped on the hand after the court process. She says she is just a civilian trying to do what she can do.

“I really feel that if the punishments were more harsh they would think twice and there would be less children that have to live this way,” says Nigro as she stood at Routes 5 and 63 holding signs with her family.

Nigro says her ex-husband is a predator and he is in prison.

“Out of his mouth he stated to me, if he knew that the laws were harsher he would have thought twice, and that is coming from somebody that hurt his family. I honestly believe if he knew that he would get more harsh punishment he would change.”

Nigro says several recent cases that have come before Genesee County Court and Judge Zambito are what motivated her to stand at one of the busiest crossroads in WNY at 4:00p.m.holding signs.

“Their offices are still open, I just want them to be able to see the importance. There are a lot of people who are silent. They don’t want to stand out here in public. There will never be change if people can’t speak up.”

Nigro says she is not against the court, she just wants the criminal justice system to look at these cases and at the victim and give them justice.

“I don’t understand why there is a bargain because there shouldn’t be a bargain to take lesser of what they did, they should be charged and go through with what they did. So many things are wiped away and then they take a plea. The plea deal is not being set to the max and there are repeat offenders. Its not protecting children.”

A few years ago Nigro started a Facebook page called “Harsher punishments for child sex offenders”

If anyone is interested in contacting Nigro she can be messaged through the page.

Informational statement from Nigro’s page:

My whole life I have grown up watching people get charged and convicted of sexual abuse to our fragile innocent children, our future.

Over and over I have watched these monsters walk with very little punishment while their victims suffer for years and in some cases life.

Victims and families of small communities are many times forced to face those who stole their innocence while trying to live their life or heal. On the streets, in stores, wherever it may be they are forced to see them over and over and in many cases makes the victim relive the hell they were forced to live through.

I feel these laws are the stem to many issues that could possibly be switched around by making the laws harsher for these offenders. By doing so would make the offender think twice before attacking a victim and if they do proceed, harsher laws will allow the victims more time to heal and give them and their families a sense of JUSTICE.

If harsher laws were set forth for child sex offenders i strongly believe the amount of victims would decrease by a landslide.

Many victims are in need of years of counciling, sometimes put in institutions for self harm, can become a predator themselves, need to be medicated for years to handle the side effects then becoming dependent of medications.

To change the laws dealing with these predators could open the possibilities to so much change for the better and for our future as a whole.
The fact is that the laws as they are give these predators the keys to our children helping spread this sickness that keeps getting worse and worse as the years pass and more and more messing up our future generations.
Even worse (in my opinion) is the laws that are in place are not being used correctly and are by far in the interest of the victim.
The less children are abused the less children will need mental health and medication. The less children are abused the stronger future this world has.

It is our job to protect the innocent and it’s about time we start doing so. So please stand with me on this day and bring a sign, your voice, or just yourself to support and speak for all the poor children that never had justice and help show our system that we NEED change so we can protect the children and the future ♡
We will walking around the court house as well as the DMV building. I chose this time because the offices are still open and we need the system to see what the community needs from them.
Election is coming up at the end of this month and all we can do is hope and pray we are seen and heard and we can ripple the system for change.
This is a peaceful protest. A voice for the children. I see eveeyones cares and cries for change online and thats amazing but it wont CHANGE anything. We MUST UNITE and do something.
Please join me.
To do something small is better than doing nothing at all. 💚
