GENESEE COUNTY/Man dies in two vehicle head on collision in Alabama

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two vehicle head on accident that occurred at Bloomingdale and Tesnow road in Alabama on Friday afternoon.

Fire and emergency crews along with deputies arrived on scene about 3:16p.m. and found 78 year old Leroy N. George in an SUV unconscious, CPR was started and Mercy Flight was requested. George was pronounced dead at the scene by the Genesee County Coroners Office a short time later. The 17 year old driver of the pick up truck, Matthew S. Murzynowski, was transported to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital with minor injuries.

According to Sheriff’s Deputies, Murzynowski said he swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck the eastbound SUV after attempting to avoid another vehicle.

The crash is being investigated by Chief Deputy Brian Frieday, Sgt. Jason Saile, Sgt Andrew Hale, Inv. Chad Minuto, Deputy Travis DeMuth and Deputy Joshua Brabon. Assisting at the scene were members of Genesee County Emergency Management, Genesee County Coroner’s Office, Mercy EMS, Alabama Fire Dept., Akron Fire Dept., and Indian Falls Fire Dept.
