PERRY POLICE REPORT/Rochester man driving with improper plates charged in traffic stop

Following a traffic stop on South Main Street, in the Village of Perry, Shawn M. Colon-Gonzaga, 24, of Rochester, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, speed in zone, unregistered motor vehicle, improper plates, operating without insurance, and unlicensed operator.  

At around 1:57a.m. on July 28, 2019, Officer Harding was patrolling on South Main Street when he observed the suspect vehicle traveling southbound at 43mph in a marked 30mph zone.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver was identified as Shawn M. Colon-Gonzaga. A records check showed the license plates on the vehicle did not belong on that vehicle and Colon-Gonzaga had a suspended non-driver ID only.

After the vehicle was towed from the scene for being unregistered and uninsured, Colon-Gonzaga was transported to the Perry Police Department where he was processed and released with appearance tickets.

Colon-Gonzaga is due to appear in the Village of Perry Court at a later date.
