SECTION 5/Football/Notre Dame rolls over York/Pavilion in sectional quarterfinal

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish defense has not allowed a touchdown in eight quarters of football. On Saturday afternoon, Notre Dame defeated York/ Pavilion 26-0 in their sectional quarterfinal game at VanDetta Stadium.

With the score 0-0 at the half, York/Pavilion was very much into the game and had their chances. It wasn’t until late in the 3rd quarter that the goose eggs were broken.

Jedidiah Reese was able push his way to the end zone for the first TD of the game. With twenty seconds remaining in the 3rd, Reese struck again, and the two point conversion was good, making the score 14-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

At the start of the 4th quarter, Reese coughed up the ball and it rolled into the end zone where Mark Sanders pounced on it to make the score 20-0.

Later in the 4th, Quarterback Gabe Macdonald made a nice pass to Anthony Zambito to set up the last score of the game. Cody Henry was able to push his way in for the TD to make the score 26-0.

Th Fighting Irish (8-0) will now face Bolivar Richburg in the class D sectional semi-final next Friday at 5:00p.m. at Hamilton Field at Caledonia Mumford.
