BATAVIA/Veteran couple welcome their first baby on Veteran’s Day

Julian Michael Morales was born 11/11/19 at UMMC to Taylor Henry and Franklin Morales Monterroso, both 26 year old Navy veterans.

“It’s very special to us that he was born on Veteran’s Day. It was meant to be,” says Moralas Monterroso, Julian’s father.

The couple met while stationed in Jacksonville, Florida in 2015 when they were surgical corps persons. Taylor served just under 5 years and Franklin served 6 years.

Taylor graduated from Batavia High School in 2011, Franklin is from New Jersey.

Taylor’s mom, Tammy also served as an MP for the Air Force and had Taylor while she was stationed in Michigan. She served from 1990-95 and is very proud.

“Its amazing and symbolic,” says Tammy Henry, Julian’s grandmother.

Julian’s due date was November 8, 2019, but keeping up with his family’s veteran status, he arrived on Veteran’s Day about 9:30p.m. at UMMC in Batavia.

Baby Julian weighs 8lbs, and is 20.5 inches long.

The couple are making their home in Batavia.
