BATAVIA/Changes at Police Department with January retirements

The City of Batavia Police Department will see several changes in the new year with Detective Sgt. Kevin Czora retiring on January 6, 2020 after 20 years of service and Assistant Chief Todd Crossett also calling it a career at the end of January.

Czora will be taking some time off and is not sure what path he will be on next. Crossett will be taking a job as a VA Police Officer. Crossett has been with the department a little over 20 years and has been Assistant Chief since 2017.

Sgt.Matt Lutey will take Detective Sgt. Kevin Czora’s place, 3rd in command at the Department, in charge of the Detective unit.

Sgt. Christopher Camp will replace Assistant Chief Todd Crossett. Camp has been with the department for 12 years. He has been afternoon Sergeant for the past 6 years.

“He’s got an immense amount of knowledge, training and experience, he is also in charge of our emergency response team and is an instructor, he will fill that role very well,” says Chief Shawn Heubusch.

Officer Mitch Cowen will be promoted to Sergeant to fill Christopher Camp’s role.
