BATAVIA/City Council looking to get the ball rolling at ice rink, Asst. Police Chief and Sgt.’s sworn in

Batavia City Council held their Conference Meeting for the month of January on Monday evening.

Councilmembers heard from City resident Michael Reich in regards to upgrades needed at the 40 year old Falleti Ice rink on Evans street. They also discussed the possible loss of VLT monies generated by Batavia Downs.

There was also a lengthy discussion on the lack of progress at the Ellicott Station Project and the code violations that need to be addressed.

Council also had a request from the owner of Classic Home Improvements on Ellicott street to allow for an auto repair business on the property. Due to a zoning issue that has to be looked into, the request was pushed to the next meeting.

Christopher Camp sworn in as Assistant Police Chief

The Batavia Police Department held a ceremonial Swearing-in for Chris Camp, who is now Assistant Police Chief, Matthew Lutey, Detective Sgt., Mitch Cowen, Police Sgt. and Marc Lawrence, Police Sgt.
