GENESEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Lewis facing more charges after going through cars and running from police

Daniel J. Lewis, 24, of Genesee St., Lima, NY, was arrested on February 1, 2020 at 12:20a.m. following an investigation.

Lewis was initially taken into custody on January 24, 2020 following a foot pursuit after it was reported Lewis was attempting to gain entry into cars in the area of Rollin Circle east in the Town of Batavia.

After Lewis was apprehended, he was found to be in possession of a number of items believed to be associated with recent car larcenies.

Lewis is charged with 8 counts of criminal possession of stolen property 4th/credit cards, 13 counts of criminal possession of stolen property 5th and 1 count of criminal possession of personal identification numbers 3rd.

Lewis was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Batavia Town Court on February 6, 2020 at 1:00p.m.

Lewis is currently being held in the Genesee County Jail on attempted robbery 1st, menacing 2nd and criminal possession of a weapon 3rd charges following an attempted robbery at knifepoint on Bank street January 1, 2020.

According to Batavia Police Chief Shawn Heubusch, Lewis is also a person of interest in the January 25, 2020 theft of a Spectrum truck that resulted in a pursuit through backyards, damage to vehicles and fences and a foot chase on Oak street. The Spectrum vehicle was taken from the Bennett Heights area about 11:30p.m.
