Bryan Moscicki was named “Firefighter of the Year” for 2019 at the Town of Batavia Volunteer Fire Department Installation Banquet at Terry Hills on Saturday evening.

Moscicki was also a Top Responder, responding to 236 calls, and had a total of 322 training hours, the most in the department.

“It was unanimous, his attitude, the amount of respects he shows, not only for his fellow firefighters, but for the officers and the department,” says Chief Dan Coffey.

Moscicki also assisted with fire reporting entry, the inventory process, tool marking and is an active participant in fire prevention.

“He has been a tremendous asset to our department.”

The Department answered 385 calls for service which equals 1,632 man hours, with an average of 9 firefighters per call. February and May were the busiest months with 41 calls. Saturday and Sunday were the busiest days for the department.

In 2019, The Town of Batavia Fire Department added six new members and so far in 2020 there are three applications being processed.

President’s Award/Tim Yaeger

Tim Yaeger was presented with the President’s Award for all his work behind the scenes on the business side of the department.

The department also made a special presentation to Wings Flights of Hope. Wings Flights of Hope is based in the Buffalo area and offers free air transportation for medical and humanitarian purposes. The Town of Batavia Fire Department presented them with a check for $1,000, which will provide fuel for four flights of hope according to founder Joe DeMarco.
