BATAVIA/Vintage is now open on Harvester avenue

Welcome to “Vintage”, a family run gift/thrift/antique shop with many community events.

On Saturday, Vintage officially opened with a ribbon cutting by the Chamber of Commerce.

“We are so excited to bring Vintage to Batavia,” owners Bob and Jackie Trombley said

“We have lived here for about 9 years, and have enjoyed this community and wanted to add a shop that others may enjoy too. Our biggest goal for Vintage is for it to be not just a shop, but a mindset. The way communities were when we grew up in the 80’s.”

They will have a free open mic for local musicians. poets and comics every Thursday night, 7-9p.m.

Every Saturday from 11am-Noon they are hosting an event called “Kids and Guitars” where Vintage provides children with guitars from the shop, to play, jam or even get free beginner lessons.

Trombley has been collecting antique items for about 6 years, traveling all over the northeast buying items from shops that are closing or the owner is retiring. He says he goes to a lot of estate sales.

Previously working in mental health in Warsaw, Trombley realized that old things connect people and make them feel better.

“People have a lot of good memories of the past and its kind of nice to bring that back to people when they connect with an item and have good feelings about it.”

Vintage is open Tuesday 9-5, Wednesday 9-3, Thursday 9-9 and Friday and Saturday 9-5. They are also offering paint classes and hoping to add an old board game night.

“We have great plans for this shop, and hope to be a main stay in the community, “says Trombley.
