On January 31, 2020, at about 6:40p.m., Genesee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a vehicle operating erratically on Rt. 33 westbound in the Town of Batavia.

After locating the vehicle and attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the suspect, Steven P. Rigoni, 41, of Roanoke Rd., Pavilion, allegedly failed to yield to law enforcement and almost struck other vehicles in the oncoming lane of traffic. Rigoni then drove off the south shoulder of the road and came to rest in a snow bank.

After making contact with Rigoni, deputies on scene administered Naloxone and he was transported to UMMC for an evaluation.

Following an investigation, Rigoni was allegedly operating his motor vehicle while his ability to do so was impaired by drugs. He was released pending charges.

On March 8, 2020, Rigoni was arrested and charged with DWAI/drugs, reckless driving, moving from a lane unsafely, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, failure to keep right and driving to the left of pavement markings.

Rigoni was released with an appearance ticket and will appear in the Town of Batavia Court on March 19, 2020 at 1:00p.m.
