WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Covington man calls 911 and reports a false incident about an erratic driver and damage to his vehicle

Deputies responded to report of a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Covington on March 17, 2020.

The caller, Blake Stowell, 25, of Covington, reported to Wyoming County 911 that he had been “side swiped” by an erratic driver while traveling in the Town of Perry.

Stowell denied causing any property damage and ensured deputies that he was not the cause of the accident.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Stowell allegedly drove off of the road and caused damage to a mailbox before leaving the scene.

Stowell is charged with moving from lane unsafely, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and falsely reporting an incident to law enforcement.

He was released on an appearance ticket and will be required to appear in the Town of Perry Court at a later date to answer his charges.

Tyler J. Mills, 20, of Attica, was charged with speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana, following a traffic stop on Route 246 in the Town of Covington on March 17, 2020.

Mills was stopped for traveling 71mph in a marked 55mph zone and was found to allegedly possess marijuana and smoking paraphernalia.

Mills was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Covington Court at a later date.
