WYOMING COUNTY/House is a total loss in late afternoon fire in Warsaw

A family of four will be staying with relatives after a late afternoon house fire in the Town of Warsaw on Monday.

Six fire companies responded to 5921 Rt. 20A about 5:22p.m. for the reported structure fire with flames showing on the front porch.

The house is a total loss.

The blaze was accidentally caused by careless smoking. High winds did play a role in the firefighting efforts.

No one was injured.

Fire crews from Warsaw, Perry Center, Perry, Silver Springs, Wyoming and Varysburg were on scene for 3 hours.

Estimated loss is $115,000.

The house is owned by Timothy Gebel and the occupants were Neil and Jennifer Gebel.

Also assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Management, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, NYS Police and NYSEG.
