BATAVIA/Highland Park man now facing sexual abuse charges

Devon A. Wright, 18, of Highland Park, Batavia, is facing more charges after being arrested April 22nd for an incident on April 8, 2020 where Wright allegedly intentionally struck a pedestrian with his car.

Following an investigation into sex abuse involving children under the age of 15, Wright was arrested on April 29, 2020 and charged with two counts of criminal sexual act 2nd, a class D felony, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child less than 17 and resisting arrest.

The sex abuse is alleged to have occurred on November 26, 2019.

April 8, 2020

Wright left the scene of the car pedestrian incident in early April and was located during a traffic stop at the end of April and charged with one count of attempted assault 1st, a class C felony, one count resisting arrest, one count obstructing governmental administration 2nd, two counts of criminal mischief 4th, one count of criminal nuisance 2nd, and one count of harassment 2nd.

Wright was jailed on $10,000 cash, $20,000 bond, $50,000 partially secured bond. He is currently out of jail on bail.

Wright is scheduled to appear in City Court on May 18, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in regards to the April 8th incident.

The investigation into the sexual abuse is ongoing and there are believed to be additional juvenile victims.
