WYOMING COUNTY/COVID-19 Update/Task force created to re-open the county/one new positive case reported

PRESS RELEASE

May 8, 2020 @ 2:00 p.m.

Chairman of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors, Jerry L. Davis, announced today the creation of a recovery task force. The task force will focus on completing the necessary steps to reopen Wyoming County for business in the aftermath of COVID-19. Taskforce members will include representatives from Wyoming County business and agriculture. More details will be made available in future press releases.

Chairman of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors, Jerry L. Davis, reports:

As of earlier today, Friday, May 8, the Wyoming County Health Department reports seventy-one (72) lab-confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 among Wyoming County residents. This is an increase of one (1) case from Thursday, May 7th.

Northwest (*Attica, Bennington, Orangeville, Sheldon) 26 positive cases, 21 recoveries.

Southwest (Arcade, Eagle, Java, Wethersfield) 12 positive cases, 11 recoveries.

Southeast (Castile, Gainesville, Genesee Falls, Pike) 15 positive cases, 15 recoveries.

Northeast (Covington, Middlebury, Perry, Warsaw) 19 positive cases, 11 recoveries, 5 deaths.

TOTAL- 72 positive cases, 58 recoveries, 5 deaths

(*Two (2) of the cases reported in the Northwest Quadrant are attributed to the Attica Correctional Facility.)
