WYOMING COUNTY/Spontaneous combustion cause of silo fire in Castile

Spontaneous combustion of old corn silage is the cause of a silo fire at 4642 Middle Reservation in the Town of Castile on Thursday May 7, 2020.

Seven fire companies responded to the Schreiber/Dale Holsteins Farm to put out a silo fire. Castile, Bliss, Gainesville, Perry Center, Perry, Pike and Silver Springs fire departments were on scene for 6.5 hours. No information on injuries.

Estimated loss is $10,000.

Also assisting on scene was Wyoming County Emergency Management.
