WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Buffalo man charged after high speed pursuit and crash

On June 13, 2020, at around 11:57p.m., Deputy Harding was patrolling eastbound on Route 20A near Snyder Road, in the Town of Orangeville, when a vehicle was observed traveling westbound at a high rate of speed.

Deputy Harding pursued the vehicle and noticed the vehicle was attempting to flee at a high rate of speed. A pursuit was initiated and the pursuit continued westbound on Route 20A, through Varysburg.

The pursuit came to an end a short time later when the suspect, later identified as William Cruz-Guadalupe, 44, of Buffalo, crashed his vehicle into a tree line at the top of Buffalo Hill, in the Town of Sheldon.

Cruz-Guadalupe was transported to ECMC via Mercy Flight after the crash and was later released.

Cruz-Guadalupe was arrested and charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle 3rd, reckless driving, speed over 55mph (two counts), speed in zone, no seatbelt, moving from a lane unsafely, driving left of pavement markings, unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle and displaying a forged inspection.

Cruz-Guadalupe was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sheldon Court at a later date.

On June 18, 2020, following a domestic violence investigation, Deputies responded to a residence on Route 39, in the Town of Pike, and arrested Thomas E. Sawdey III, 50, of Castile.

He is charged with assault in the 2nd degree.

Sawdey was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he was arraigned in front of Judge Errington in Warsaw Town Court.

Following the arraignment, Sawdey was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail without bail and is scheduled to appear in the Wyoming County Court at a later date.

Corey A. Brown, 34, of Varysburg, was arrested following a traffic investigation on Buffalo Road in the Town of Warsaw on June 27, 2020.

Brown was the driver of a roadside vehicle located by deputies.

Brown was found to have a NYS identification card only which was suspended. The plates on the vehicle were also found to be switched from another vehicle.

Brown is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, unlicensed operation, and improper plates.

Brown was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Warsaw Court at a later date.
