GENESEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Batavia woman charged after attempting to purchase a firearm

Sarah P. Lytle, 37, of State St., Batavia, is charged with attempted criminal contempt 2nd and criminal purchase or disposal of a weapon after allegedly attempting to purchase a firearm while Lytle was a subject to an order of protection.

Lytle attempted to make the purchase on Lewiston road about 3:00p.m. on June 17, 2020.

The order of protection prohibits her from doing so.

Lytle was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in Batavia Town Court on July 29, 2020 at 1:00p.m.

The Genesee County Local Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested two Batavia men on Monday afternoon after a traffic stop in the City of Batavia.

Jerwan B. McFarley, aka, 34, of Lehigh Ave., Batavia, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, a class A misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Also charged, Matthew C. Olcott, 41, of Clinton St. Rd., Batavia. He is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, all class A misdemeanors. Olcott is also charged with the violation of unlicensed operation.

Deputy Ryan DeLong conducted the traffic stop of the car that McFarley and Olcott were traveling in on Cedar street in the City of Batavia.

After in investigation, McFarley was allegedly found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine and marijuana. Olcott was allegedly found to to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended driver’s license.

Both were issued appearance tickets.

Task Force members were assisted by Batavia Police Officers, Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Genesee County District Attorney’s Office.
