WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Complaint of fireworks being shot out of a vehicle leads to traffic stop, driver charged

On July 23, 2020 at approximately 10:53p.m., a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Main Street and Shearing Road in the Village of Gainesville, for the report of subjects shooting fireworks out of a vehicle.

Upon arrival, the deputy did locate a black pickup truck driving down Main Street with no headlights on and observed fireworks being shot out of the passenger side window at a male running across the roadway.

The vehicle continued southbound on Main Street, failing to keep right and not signaling for a right hand turn on to Shearing Road. A traffic stop was conducted and the deputy was able to detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from within the vehicle. The operator was also displaying signs of impairment and a roadside DWI investigation was conducted, which included field sobriety testing.

Following the investigation, Charles Wells Jr., 49, of Castile, was arrested and charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08% or more, failure to keep right, no turn signal and no headlamps.

Wells was processed and issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Village of Gainesville Court at a later date.

On July 21, 2020, at approximately 2:21a.m., a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 246 in the Town of Perry for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Upon speaking with the operator of the vehicle, Kevin Jackson Jr., the Deputy began to observe signs of impairment. A roadside DWI investigation was conducted, which included the performance of field sobriety testing.

Following the investigation, Jackson was charged with DWAI/drugs. Jackson did submit to a drug influence evaluation conducted by a certified Drug Recognition Expert.

At the conclusion of the evaluation, he was found to be impaired by multiple drug categories. Jackson is charged with DWAI/drugs, DWAI/drugs-combo, uninspected motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, criminal use of drug paraphernalia 2nd, and criminal possession of a weapon 4th. He was issued a uniform appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to the Town of Perry Court at a later date.

On July 17, 2020 at approximately 11:44p.m., deputies from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Green Bay Road and Route 78 in the Town of Gainesville, for the report of a rollover accident.

The operator of the vehicle, Donovan Hubbard, 18, of Pike, was located a short distance from the accident scene and was displaying signs of impairment.

A DWI investigation was conducted, which included the performance of field sobriety testing. Following the investigation, Hubbard was arrested and charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08% or more, moving from a lane unsafely and no seatbelt.

Hubbard was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to the Town of Gainesville Court at a later date.

On July 19, 2020 at approximately 12:17a.m., a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Silver Lake Road in the Town of Perry for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Upon speaking with the operator of the vehicle, Robert Anzalone, 34, of LeRoy, the deputy began to observe signs of impairment. A roadside DWI investigation was conducted, which included the performance of field sobriety testing.

Following the investigation, Anzalone was arrested and charged with DWAI/drugs. He did submit to a Drug Influence Evaluation, conducted by a certified Drug Recognition Expert.

At the conclusion of the evaluation, Anzalone was found to be impaired by multiple drug categories. He is charged with DWAI/drugs, DWAI/ drugs – combo, failure to keep right and inadequate plate lamps.
