GENESEE COUNTY/Bethany woman charged after leaving her dog in a hot car

Catherine Klinkbell, 52, of Bethany Center Rd., Bethany, is charged with confinement of a companion animal in a vehicle in extreme temperatures, after leaving her dog inside her vehicle in the Wal-mart parking lot on Veteran’s Memorial Drive on July 27, 2020 at 1:08p.m.

Genesee County Animal Control was dispatched to the scene and reported that the canine was in distress and found that the temperature inside the vehicle was harmful to the dog. The outside temperature at the time was 84 degrees.

The canine was removed from the vehicle and transported to the Genesee County Animal Shelter.

Klinkbell was located by deputies and issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Batavia Court on August 20, 2020 at 1:00p.m.
