GENESEE COUNTY/Retired dispatcher takes a plea deal in child pornography case

James E. Tripp, 60, of Batavia, pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a sexual performance by a child less than 16, a class E felony, on Tuesday morning in Genesee County Court.

Tripp admitted to knowingly possessing a sexual performance by a child less than 16 on December 20, 2017, count one.

He was originally charged with three counts of possession of sexual performance by a child after being arrested on January 21, 2020. Tripp turned himself in to State Police and was released on his own recognizance.

Judge Charles Zambito advised Tripp that he could be sentenced to shock probation for up to 5 years or face up to 90 days in jail.

Tripp will continue to be released on recognizance and will be sentenced on September 22, 2020 at 10:00a.m.
